I suppose real old age begins when one looks backward rather than forward. –May Sarton
If you keep thinking what happened before too often instead on what’s going to happen next, it is a sign that you are entering the last phase of your life; old age. This statement is not supported by any empirical evidence however it appears logical enough.
When you are younger you keep thinking on what the future will bring, about what is going to happen next and rarely looking back and wishing to stay in the past. However once you enter the next phase of your life (read old age or golden age if you prefer) you will keep looking at the past, wishing to be young again and correcting your errors or even worse your life will full of regrets because of something you don’t accomplish during those time.
That’s why at this very moment you must live your life to the fullest and learn as much as you can. Be ambitious and held your head high so you will accomplish your ambition. It is okay if you go through hardship now rather sitting back and not doing anything for yourself. At least when you are older you can thump your chest and say aloud that you have accomplished something which you proud of. Even when you are old it is better to reminisce on your good memories and success rather than mull over on your regrets.
