Wow ...Wow and WOW!!~ The long awaited album is finally here. (Well officially the album will be launched on 22nd November but as usual it has been leaked all over the Internet by 15th Nov)
I have downloaded and listened to the whole album and just speechless. They did it again. MCR outdid themselves yet again in Danger Days. The album consists of 15 tracks including 3 intermission bring you to one hell of rollercoaster ride. The lyrics and melody will get to you. If you are used with their previous works (Bullet, Three Cheers and The Black Parade) then some of you might be confused of disappointed even because the lack of “emo” in this album. (Emo here is in general term. If you listen to their older songs then you might get what I mean). As Gerard says in one of radio interviews “ We want to put some colours on it.” and splash of colours they got in this album. No doubt of it.
To get the whole concept of the album you need to at least understand the alternate universe created by MCR. The setting is a kind of post apocalypse or in the far away future (some articles say 2019) where the evil corporation Better Living Industries (BL/Ind) takes over the government. The Fabulous Killjoys are the outlaws that resist the influence of the industries. Their guide is the pirate deejay Dr. Death Defying and his assistant Pony Boy. There is also a little girl without a name (yet) accompanies The Killerjoys. The place they live in is called Battery City. In order to control and subdue the public BL/Ind (lead by Korse) distribute a kind of drug to brain wash them.
The first official video Music Na Na Na is the best introduction material for this universe. That is why I’m quiet angry because some stupid A- holes censored the word “drugs” in the lyric. They are not singing about coke or marijuana here but pills. What? they sell them at the “drug store”? Are you guys insane?!
This track is catchy as hell. A fast number with crazy melody. I really want to see this song to be performed live. So far nothing decent on youtube yet. Epic I’ll tell you. The second single they brings us down a bit with slow number, Sing (slower than Na Na Na at least) but the lyric and the melody haunt me for a long time. There’s despair, hope, struggle, pain and anger all in one song. The video is the continuation from Na Na Na and so heartbreaking. I can’t wait to see the vid for the third single.
Some of my personal favourite tracks apart from Na Na Na and Sing are Party Poison (the Japanese part is awesome), Summertime, Bulletproof, Vampire Money and Planetary (GO!).
This is one album that will be remembered for a very long time. Hell who am I kidding? All their albums are being remembered for a very long time and some.
